Wow … you certainly need a head for heights to do this job!!! Here’s some photos the Council’s building surveyor, Andy Hartley, has taken from the top of the Town Hall roof whilst essential maintenance work is carried out.

The work, to keep our wonderful Grade II listed building in tip-top shape, has involved slate repairs, cleaning out rainwater goods and clearing vegetation from the clock tower.
A huge shout out to Paul Farish who’s carrying out the work on behalf of our contractors, Hughes Brothers. Paul, who is pictured with Andy in one of the photos (on the right), has been working at heights of up to 50 meters on the tower – he’s doing an incredible job
And thanks to Andy for taking the photos and showing us never-before-seen views of the Town Hall.
And, if anyone is wondering, following leak damage, we are waiting on England’s only big clock repairer – who was responsible for the renovation works to ‘Big Ben’ – to fix the clock
